Your dog’s beautiful, luscious coat will tell you everything you need to know about choosing the perfect color! Here are some quick tips for determining the right one.
There really are only two questions you need to ask yourself before finding the right color to compliment your dog. Does your dog have a warm or cool coat? Is the coat dark or light?
Now, what do we mean by warm or cool coat? Yellows, reds, oranges, and browns are all warm colors. They evoke feelings of warmth because they remind of things like the sun or fire. Cool colors will be blues, greens, and purples. They’ll remind of things such as water or grass. Now, unless you have a blue dog (WHAT?), we’ll focus more on neutral colors for this category such as grey, black, and white.
Once you determine whether your dog is a warm color or a neutral color, the importance of balance comes into play. For instance, a warm coat begs for a cool color! Think opposites. It’s best to actually look up the color wheel and choose the color directly across from the color of your dog. A redish coat would look excellent with green. An orange coat would vibe with blue and so on.
For neutral dogs, you’ll have plenty of options. A black dog looks great in every color, and pretty much the same goes with grey and white. This is where a dark or light coat becomes important in your decision.
If your dog’s coat is light, choose a dark color. If your dog’s coat is dark, choose a light color! For instance, if your dog is a darker brown, pick a lighter blue! You want it to pop on your dog and compliment his natural color.
For white dogs, a mistake would be something like pastel blue. You’ll want something a little darker like teal or navy blue. You could even have a mix of colors as long as you have the right colors stand out. In the main picture, this white dog rocks hot pink among a lighter pink to help those dark flowers stand out even more.
So there you have it! An easy guide on choosing the perfect color to make your pup stand out!
